OUR STORY
Ponte En Mis Zapatos, in English means "Put Yourself in My Shoes". We call it Ponte for short, or PEMZ for those that can't say it! The effort has grown since 2013 and was formalized into a nonprofit in 2022. It was started by two friends, Enrique Luna and Norma Hernandez who saw a need. A need to support the children of Latino Fathers incarcerated in Oregon. From there, the support requests grew and the needs of children in Mexico became even more evident during the COVID pandemic inspiring Norma and her supportive friends and family to organize as a nonprofit. The hope is to be able to serve more people, especially children and to also support other people who want to champion a kindness project but lack the nonprofit structure, support and ability to raise funds.
